Exploring the subtle style of Bezel set diamond rings

Is there any other reason to buy bezel set diamond rings apart from that they look real good? Shopping isn’t what it used to be any more; we have too many choices which is good but at the same time can be a bit of a headache!!
That aside, what exactly is a bezel set ring? A “bezel” is a collar of metal in this case precious which is wrapped around the diamond. It is attached to the top of the ring standing above it.

Hmmm! Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of having a diamond if you are going t cover it with this blanket of metal? Traditionally, this was the case and quite a bit of light couldn’t get in to the diamond denying it the right to shine brightly.
However, this has changed and you can now get a half bezel where the bezel is split in to two and you get two half arcs opening up the setting and exposing the diamond to light & allowing its fire to be seen; this also give the ring a modern look.

Traditionally, only round diamonds were set in bezel set rings. However, you can now set fancy cut diamonds e.g. pear shaped diamonds with a bezel with a V-shaped piece of metal at the pointed end of the stone & the other piece arced around the wide side of the diamond.
What are the main reasons to opt for bezel set diamond rings?

•The first and most important is protection. Due to the collar of precious metal around the diamond, you’d have to try very hard to damage the diamond. An added bonus is that the bezel hold the stone securely on the setting meaning it is rare for you to loose your precious diamond accidentally.

•Bezel rings are a perfect choice if you are on a budget since buying another diamond is out of the question.

•If you are an active woman whose work is physical and also does housework, this ring is ideal for you as the diamond is shielded from daily wear & tear.

•Another reason which doesn’t work to your advantage is that the bezel could be used to hide external or internal flaws on the diamond. However, this shouldn’t put you off from buying bezel set diamond rings, just ensure you buy them from a trusted jeweler. A ring with such flaws should be much cheaper than a similar ring without flaws.
