Diamond nose rings capture attention immediatelly!!

Its next to impossible not to be noticed when you are wearing diamond nose rings!!
Be it a nostril piercing or a septum one, they are definitely not for the timid or faint at heart as they definitely make a bold fashion statement and are second only to diamond earrings in popularity.

The practice of wearing nose rings is ancient. In the Bible, nose rings are mentioned in Genesis 24:22 where Abrahams servant placed a gold nose ring weighing 6 grams on Rebekahs’ nose also Proverbs 11:22, Isaiah 3:21, Ezekiel 16:12 and Hosea 2:13.

In Nepal and India they were regarded as beauty marks and also of good social standing. In the 16th century, they were also worn as a tribute to Parvathi the goddess of marriage.
This is also where ayurvedic medicine started and according to practitioners of this form of medicine, the outside of the left nostril is associated with the reproductive organs and making childbirth easier and so it the place the nose is normally pierced.
This would explain why this piercing is popular in Asia; which woman wouldn’t want an easy child birth?

Nose piercing is still popular in India as well as in Middle Eastern countries.
When body piercing became a fad in the West i.e. in Europe, Canada, Australia and America, nose piercing gained popularity and it was soon picked up by popular youth culture in the 1980’s and 1990’s including the Punk, Goth and Hip-hop movement. Young men and women began to wear diamond nose rings though they are more common with women.

Among the most popular nose rings are the stud with a ball closure, the loop and the stud with a flat backing.
There are also nasal septum piercings or bull rings as they are similar to those placed on cattle and are less common than nostril piercings.
The small gap between your cartilage and the bottom of the nose is what is pierced. Both nostril and septum piercing can be painful as the nose has many nerves running through it but the amount of pain varies with different people. This piercing heals within a month and a half to three months depending on how fast your body heals itself.

The different types of rings worn in septum piercings include circular bells, pinchers and captive bead rings or CBRs which are rings closed with a bead held in the center by the tension of the ring.

If you are brave or daring enough, there are diamond nose rings to suit your taste and you budget. Due to the general size of the nose rings, the majority of the diamonds on them will be small ones and thus affordable. The only limitation is how many nose rings you want to own!!
