Thank you Mr. Gossard for Radiant cut diamond engagement rings...

Apparently, radiant cut diamond engagement rings are really unique diamond rings? Am glad to confirm that yes they are!! Thanks to one Henry Gossbard who created the first Radiant cut in 1977 we are able to enjoy the brilliance of the round cut in square rectangular diamonds.

How is this achieved? Mr. Gossbard combined the step cut used in diamonds with straight edges e.g. square and rectangular stones with the triangular cuts used on stones with round edges e.g. ovals and pear shapes stones and thus the radiant cut was born. This combination of cuts enabled the beauty of straight edge diamonds to be truly released.
The most common facet pattern for radiant diamonds is 62 facets (25 on crown, 8 on the girdle, and 29 on the pavilion)The radiant cut diamond is the first rectangular cut to have a brilliant facet pattern on both the pavilion & the crown. This gives a much more brilliant diamond and thus more dazzle than the emerald cut.

Over the last 10 years, the length to width ratio has changed from 1.5 the then preferred ratio for the emerald cut to 1.2 being popular now.
With emerald cuts, marquise and other elongated fancy shapes when not well cut, there is a tendancy of having a bow tie effect. This is a dark area shaped like a man’s bow tie that occurs when then the angles of the cut are not optimumly cut & detracts from the beauty & brilliance especially if the effect is exaggerated.
Radiant cut diamonds with clarity of VSI and better and color of H and better are best suited for radiant cut diamond engagement rings.

So what does all the above “diamond speak” mean for you? It means that when you chose a square or rectangular diamond cut as a “radiant”, it will be brighter and more beautiful than if it was cut in another design.
